Maido Sushi

I recently discovered Maido Sushi, nestled along St John’s Wood High Street, amidst the backdrop of pale pink, very Instagramable Cherry Blossom trees. Initially thinking it was solely a takeaway spot, I was pleasantly surprised to find it offers a cosy dine-in experience, showcasing premium Japanese-inspired cuisine.

If you’re seeking a fresh sushi experience, look no further. With a diverse selection including sashimi, crab fish rolls, and nigiri, Maido Sushi has something to satisfy every palate. Alternatively, explore their selection of fresh salads, rice bowls, and enticing hot dishes like Octopus Takoyaki or Duck Spring Rolls. Perfect for sharing amongst friends and family, Maido Sushi crafts each dish with high-quality fish and ingredients, ensuring a delightful culinary experience without breaking the bank. It’s an ideal destination for any occasion, promising an unforgettable gastronomic journey.

Hovarda

I’ve always been eager to experience Hovarda, the Greek-inspired restaurant, particularly its seafood offerings. The Marinated Sea Bream and Grilled Smoked Eel, sourced fresh from the Aegean Sea, were exceptional. Stepping inside, I was immediately enveloped in its Mediterranean ambience, enhanced by the vibrant music of a DJ whose set changes daily, ensuring a dynamic and lively atmosphere. Be sure to leave room for dessert, especially the Metaxa Baba, a delightful twist on the traditional Rum Baba left me wanting more and more. The Lokma, a dish of syrupy deep-fried dough balls, was the perfect way to end my meal.

Carlotta

Since its debut in 2023, Carlotta has become a beloved hotspot in Marylebone. The latest addition to the iconic Big Mamma group, delve into Neapolitan and Sicilian classic dishes from its menu of the month. An exciting concept that gives the restaurant a unique feel with a new menu every four weeks due to new arrivals and seasonal changes, so you’ll always have something new to try. Its selection of pasta is to die for, especially the Ravioli Al Tre Formaggi, filled with Gorgonzola, Ricotta and Parmigiano, served with a creamy sauce and pepper finish. Or a close favourite is their spicy Spaghetti with Meatballs made from pork and ‘Nduja.

Due to its popularity, booking in advance is highly recommended to secure your place in this culinary haven, where each dish is crafted to perfection, promising an unforgettable dining experience.

Gold

If you’re wondering where to spend your long summer days, look no further. Pay a visit to Notting Hill’s beloved Gold where you’ll find an outdoor terrace nestled in a picturesque courtyard, alongside the option for cosy indoor dining if you’re seeking a more intimate atmosphere. Explore their varied menu of Mediterranean dishes, I’d highly recommend the mouthwatering Chargrilled Scarlet Prawns and Wood Roasted Aubergine. Perfect for an evening gathering or a leisurely lunch with loved ones, it also offers various meat, seafood, vegetarian and vegan options.
